All graphical material of animals presented on this site has exclusively been photographed in free nature-ground without using any auxiliary means or measures (e.g.: feedings to lure the animals etc.) that could affect the behaviour of the animals. Biologically justifiable disturbances (hunt, irreconcilable grabbing of nests, falling below escape distances) have always been avoided. Approaches necessary for close-ups have exclusively been induced by the animals. Takings of animals in captivity or those of animals brought up by humans are additionally marked with “C” (Captive) before the numbering of the picture. The same applies for wild plants. Takings of wild plants shot in greenhouses and plantations are marked with “P” (Plantation) before the picture numbering. Pictures only existent as digital files, meaning they were taken with digital equipment, are marked with “d” (digital, only JPEG format) or “dt” (digital, JPEG- and TIFF format) at the end of the numbering of the picture. Genuine slides do not have a “d” or “dt” in the end of the numbering of the picture. The images presented here have been scanned with the recent Nikon scan technology faithful the original in the full size. If pictures from artistic motives are manipulated or are retouched, they are marked before the picture numbering with "M" and with cutting representations with "A".
